Main activities:
The main activities to be carried out are the characterization of current passenger flows, the collection of data on user needs, the analysis of the demand for multimodal transport solutions, and the design of MaaS services, with particular attention to safety, protection, and accessibility to transport infrastructures.
Specifically, the project is based on the following activities:
• Activity 1: analysis of the territorial context
• Activity 2: evaluation of the monorail solution for the integration of the node with the Erzelli district
• Activity 3: innovative solutions for intermodality
• Activity 4: accessibility and safety
• Activity 5: Implementation guidelines
• Activity 6: coordination and communication.
• Activity 1: analysis of the territorial context
Activity 1 aims to produce a detailed analysis of the territorial context, based on services and facilities already in operation, designed/in progress, and planned. This activity includes: analysis of the functional structure of the Erzelli intermodal node, analysis of the development of the Erzelli district, and analysis of passenger flows through the node.
• Activity 2: evaluation of the monorail solution for the integration of the node with the Erzelli district
Activity 2 aims at the validation of the final monorail project: the design of this infrastructure is an iterative process that takes into account, among other things, technical constraints (topography, geotechnics, alignment) as well as economic and environmental aspects. Therefore, this activity concerns the monitoring and validation of the final project by the Partners and, in particular, by the Municipality of Genoa in its capacity as the awarding authority for the design, construction, and management of the monorail.
• Activity 3: innovative solutions for intermodality
This activity aims to assess the appropriate requirements for the provision of combined mobility services and MaaS-oriented functionalities. This activity includes: survey of stakeholders and citizens, analysis of MaaS requirements and identification of related enabling technologies, feasibility study for the introduction of an integrated electronic intermodal ticketing system, design of a MaaS platform to provide tools and information services to passengers moving through the node, and identification of the best ICT solutions for the efficient management of the monorail service.
• Activity 4: accessibility and safety
Activity 4 aims to address the safety/accessibility issues of the entire Erzelli intermodal node.
This activity includes in particular: study of innovative ICT solutions for the automatic analysis of people flows through the different areas of the node, identification of measures to ensure the accessibility of people with reduced mobility (PRM) in the intermodal node and for any mode of transport used, and definition of requirements to provide effective cybersecurity measures, in particular through the crowdsourcing service.
• Activity 5: Implementation guidelines
Activity 5 aims to provide guidelines for the implementation and development of the new services previously identified and designed.
The guidelines will include specific recommendations regarding: regulatory context and policies; cost-benefit analysis; operational plan.
The implementation of the new MaaS services will be carried out through a dedicated contract or included in the offer for the construction and/or operation of the monorail system.
• Activity 6: coordination and communication
This activity covers aspects related to the technical and administrative management of the project, under the direct responsibility of the coordinator Municipality of Genoa.
The activity also concerns communication and dissemination measures, according to the Communication Plan defined at the beginning of the project.
